A quiet St George’s Day 2009

Like last year, we were in Chester for St George’s Day, but with Mum still recovering from her op, and unable to get out and about much yet, we had a quiet, yet very English Day. Unfortunately, the florist shop that Dad had always used for his red rose button hole had closed, so we had to find another. We were very impressed as (unusually for most places) they knew exactly what we wanted and why and our roses were beautiful.

I shall show you how we spent our annual special-day-in-honour-of-Dad rather than tell you – the pictures are all only snaps taken on my phone but they will give you the idea. 🙂 (Click any thumbnail pic for full size)

A very English lunch:

The car had to be decorated appropriately:

Then we took Dad’s rose to the crem:

Then we had a very English dinner, although we cheated and had champagne – but felt we needed something special for various reasons:

And we finished with a traditionally English bread & butter pudding:

So although we had a quiet day, we still celebrated it and we had a few laughs throughout. Next year, hopefully, Billy will join our celebrations too.
